The Missouri Department of Conservation, along with other state agencies, offers many opportunities to guide children outdoors, where they can connect with nature by experiencing it firsthand and learn what it takes to keep Missouri’s plants and animals healthy. Become a "nature-wise" superhero to your kids. Explore nature and master outdoor skills with them. Discover Nature Families programs show you how. Find one near you. More

Discover Nature Women

Don't let inexperience keep you from enjoying Missouri's great outdoors. Women 14 years and older can gain the skills and confidence to pursue outdoor activities alone or with friends and family. Find a Discover Nature Women workshop near you. More

    Missouri Conservation Frontiers will help you discover Missouri’s wildlife and habitats, and learn how to enjoy and protect them. The program includes guidance from sponsors and provides volunteer opportunities. Anyone can join.

  • Discover Nature Schools

    Get your students excited about nature now, and they’ll be conservationists for life. Discover Nature Schools is a conservation education program designed to help students get outside to experience fun, hands-on learning in nature close to home. The program includes student and teacher guides that meet state education standards, as well as grants for field trips and instructional materials.

  • Free Publications

    Our free publications help Missouri landowners, homeowners, teachers and students improve their acres, learn about animals and plants, enjoy more fishing and hunting, attract fun-to-watch wildlife with native plants and get involved in special programs. Download this form to browse or order dozens of free publications from MDC's distribution center. Note: you must be a Missouri resident to receive our free printed publications.

  • Missouri Forestkeepers

    The Missouri Forestkeepers Network is an opportunity for all Missourians--urban and rural--to get involved in understanding and gaining important information about the condition of trees and forests. By joining the network, you play an essential role in the future of Missouri's trees and forests. Join us.

  • Missouri Stream Team

    The Stream Team program provides an opportunity for all interests to get involved in river conservation.

  • Priority Focus AreasPriority Focus Areas are places where Missourians can do the most for wildlife. If your land or town lies in a Priority Focus Area, you're eligible for enhanced funding opportunities and technical support. Check the Priority Focus Area map and call your regional office to learn more.
  • Share the HarvestShare the Harvest helps deer hunters donate venison to the needy. Find an approved processor or start a Share the Harvest program in your area.
